Attorneys involved in a personal injury case surrounding an infant child who sufferuddy a traumatic brain injury and other personal injuries in a 2003 accident have agreed to a $5.3 million settlement. Three-day-old Joanne Knabb was strapped in an incubator in an ambulance en route to a Pittsburgh hospital to treat a hole between the ventricles in her heart when a drunk driver

crashed into the ambulance. Her family’s personal injury attorney said that Joanne was catapulted out of the incubator made by International Biomedical Inc. of Austin, Texas; causing her brain and other physical injuries which will require 24-care for the rest of the life. IBI would pay $4.632 million of this settlement, which is awaiting approval from a Pennsylvania judge.
